ASSP Meeting Minutes – May 15, 2008

 

 

Lori Adams, President called the meeting to order at 8:57 am.  She introduced the speaker for today’s meeting.

 

Program: Tom Manno and Pradeep Bhatia of Met Life gave a presentation titled “It’s Not Your Mother’s Retirement”.

 Comfort Keepers, Susan Galassini and Katie Fielmann were the sponsor.

 

Business Meeting:

The 2008 ASSP directories are in the process of being assembled and printed. She thanked Law Elder Law and Blue Cross Blue Shield for their generosity in assembling and printing the directories.

There are 2007 directories still available that can be given to Senior Centers or Hospitals.  She encouraged members to take them.

Lori read thank you notes from grant recipients. She also reminded all that grant funds are still available.

The Devonshire of Lisle has offered to host the July 10th after hours from 4:30-7:00pm.  You must be a paid member to attend.

 

Board Member Reports

• Vice President - Jonathon Johnson – Please let him know if you are interested in sponsoring a meeting.  We are currently schedule through September.
• Treasurer - Lee Catalano – Not present.  No report.
• Secretary – Susan Galassini – No report.
• Membership – Mike Doepke– If there are any questions regarding membership, please let him know.  The June meeting will be the last meeting before the summer break.
•  Marketing – Jamie Lee Silver – Not present.  No report.
• Member at Large – Mike Bearce – Not present.  E-mail any announcements or job postings to MAB@fallpreventionclinics.com.

New paid members got 30 seconds; all others introduced themselves and company.  Lori reminded all that before the meeting starts, from 8:30-9:00 am is a good opportunity for networking.

ASSP Meeting Minutes – April 17, 2008

 

 

Lori Adams, President called the meeting to order at 9:02 am.  She introduced the speaker for today’s meeting.

 

Program: Denise Pozen of So Tell Me…Medical Organizers was the presentor.

 

Silver Connections, Inc. was the sponsor.

 

Business Meeting:

Lori reminded all that the $75 membership dues are due today to be included in the 2008 directory. Lori thanked Law Elder Law for doing the layout and BCBS for the printing.

 

If members have announcements or job postings that they would like to post on the web-site, please e-mail Mike Bearce at MAB@fallpreventionclinics.com.  When jobs are filled, please let Mike know so he can remove the listing.

• Membership – Mike Doepke– Mike sent around a list of paid members.  If you are not on the list, but think you should be, let him know before you leave.  Reminded visitors to take a membership packet with them.
• Marketing – Jamie Lee Silver –  If you would like to be a part of the speaker’s bureau contact her.
• Member at Large – Mike Bearce – Not present
• Grant Committee – Rick Niksic –  Reminded the membership that the committee will review all requests.  There are dollars available to help individuals who are in need.

ASSP Meeting Minutes – March 20, 2008

 

 

Jonathan Johnson, Vice President called the meeting to order at 8:56 am.  He introduced the speaker for today’s meeting.

 

Program: Mike Bearce of Fall Prevention Clinics of America gave a presentation titled

Falls in the Senior Population.

 

Pathways Senior Living, Terry Geppner was the sponsor.

 

Business Meeting:

Jonathon reminded all that the $75 membership dues are due by the end of March to be included in the directory.  He gave the address to mail the dues to as ASSP – DuPage, 20 Danada Square West #192, Wheaton, IL 60187. 

 

Jonathon announced that we are looking for a location to hold the June after hours.  If you are interested in hosting this event, please contact him asap.  We are also looking for a sponsor for the November meeting.

• Membership – Mike Doepke– Mike was not present, but Lee reminded all to review their listing and notify Mike only of changes are needed.
• Marketing – Jamie Lee Silver – Please take directories.  Also, if you would like to be a part of the speaker’s bureau contact her.
• Member at Large – Mike Bearce – Please call him with any concerns, suggestions.
• Grant Committee – Rick Niksic – The grant committee has helped provide people with hearing aides, walkers, car repairs and utility bills.  $1,570 has been granted out this year.

ASSP Meeting Minutes – February 21, 2008

 

Lori Adams, President called the meeting to order at 9:04 am.  She reminded all to put $5 in the basket to help pay for the room rent and breakfast.   Mike Doepke also reminded everyone that dues paid by the end of March will be printed in the directory.  Dues paid after March will be updated on the web-site, but not printed in the directory.

 

Lori then turned the meeting over to Jonathan Johnson, Vice President to introduce the speaker for today’s meeting.

 

Program: Patricia O’Dea Evans of Paxem, Inc. and Jennifer Prell of Silver Connections, LLC gave a presentation titled Marketing Trends ’08.

 

American Association for Wartime Veterans, Jim Cauthorn was the sponsor.

 

Business Meeting:

Lori Adams read a thank you note from Janet Wilkinson from Du Page County Senior Services & Du Page County Senior Citizens Council.

ASSP Meeting Minutes - January 17, 2008

 

Lori Adams, President called the meeting to order at 9:02 am.  She turned the meeting over to Jonathan Johnson , Vice President to introduce the speaker  for today’s meeting.

 

Program: Jan Caryl Derenfeld of Learned Conversations gave a presentation titled The Learned Conversation Angel Program.

 

Lexington Healthcare of Bloomingdale, Sue Salach was the sponsor.

 

Business Meeting:

Lori Adams introduced Susan Galassini as the new secretary.  The meeting minutes will now be posted on the web-site.   She also reminded all members to e-mail Mike Bearce with any job postings or events that they may like to have included on the web-site.   

 

The Adopt a Senior program helped 5 families for a total of 15 people in December.  Lori thanked all who helped to wrap gifts at the December meeting.  She also thanked Sue Zawacki and Susan Wolski for wonderful job they did on the committee.

 

Lori read a heartfelt thank you note from the Mueller family for the grant that they received.

 

Mike Doepke reminded the visitors to take a new member packet that was available and also let all know that there are directories available to take.

• Vice President - Jonathon Johnson –The speaker for next month will be Pat O’Dea Evans titled How to Work With Senior Market Trends.  The meeting sponsor is American Association for Wartime Vets.
• Treasurer  - Lee Catalano – Checkbook balance $4,976.  Still finalizing budget.
• Membership – Mike Doepke -136 members.  Membership year begins April 1, 2008. $75 dues are due in March.
• Secretary – Susan Galassini – Minutes will be posted on the web-site.
• Marketing – Jamie Lee Silver – There are many directories left.  If you need any, please contact her.
• Member at Large – Mike Bearce – please e-mail or call with and concerns or questions.  He will bring it to the board.
• Grant Committee – Rick Niksic - Form is being updated and will be available on the web-site.  Rick thanked Mary Doherty for all of her work on getting the committee started.
